Plumbing Concerns After The Winter Storm –

This weekend on the Radio Show, Check A Pro Joe was joined by Alan O’Neill, the CEO of Abacus Plumbing, Air Conditioning and Electrical, to discuss the recent cold snap and what homeowners can expect in terms of plumbing supplies and service over the next several months.

Slade Dinn, owner of SSD Pools, also joined Check A Pro Joe to discuss how the winter storm has affected lots of our listeners and their pool equipment. Slade discussed the unprecedented temperature drops, and how many homeowners found themselves in a bind with cracked and damaged equipment.

PRO PLUMBING TIP

Frozen Pipes? Shut off the water. When the weather turns extremely cold, water supply pipes are prone to freezing and bursting. Shutting off the water main leading into the structure, and opening any faucets connected to the pipe, will help reduce pressure on the frozen pipes and minimize flooding.

PRO POOL TIP

Keep your pumps running during a hard freeze. These days, most new pool equipment has built in freeze protection that kicks your pump on when the outside temperature reaches a certain low. If you’re equipment is lower, make sure you run your pumps 100% of the time during freezing temperatures. Moving water is hard to freeze. This will help protect your equipment from freeze damage.
